August Blog Traffic Report (2019)

August Blog Traffic Report (2019)

Hey there! Another month has come and gone and that means that it’s time for my monthly blog traffic report. I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by.

Every month I share my traffic stats to show what my numbers are, how I use social media to drive traffic to my blog and to share that it’s okay to have lower numbers. Many traffic reports show these big numbers and make newer bloggers feel disappointed about their numbers. Remember, it’s not always about the numbers. You can have lower numbers but a tight-knit community. Stop comparing, and do you!

This month was pretty great for traffic. I had a college-related pin go viral this month so that really helped with my traffic. In the middle of the month, I put a CTA at the bottom of the post offering a freebie to sign up for my mailing list and that has been pretty good as well. I only posted two new posts in August, which definitely wasn’t planned. I did want to post more but I wasn’t feeling that inspired when it came to blog post ideas, so only two got published. So, let’s get into this months numbers!

Google Analytics

For August, I ended the month with 6,329 users which resulted in 6,685 sessions and 8,078 pageviews. This is the most I’ve had for a month ever! I hope to keep this momentum going into this month but we’ll see what happens when that pin slows down. Pinterest was definitely the main traffic referrer for the month with that viral pin. Pinterest is my favorite platform to work with.

Twitter

For Twitter, I ended the month with 16,600 impressions and 1,256 followers. That’s an increase of 5 followers, but definitely a decrease in impressions. I was not that active tweeting on Twitter this month besides the auto-posting. I’m always scrolling on Twitter, but I didn’t tweet as much this month. I know, so uninspiring.

Pinterest

So, Pinterest has changed their analytics page and starting August made everyone use the new one, so the info I normally share isn’t shown the same way and some aren’t shown at all anymore. It looks like the Website Impressions/Viewers I normally share isn’t shown anymore. So, it looks like it’ll only be two sections shown. It also looks like they stopped using viewers, it’s just the total audience now, like what shows on your Pinterest profile, so this section will look a little different now.

I ended the month with 547,440 impressions, yes half a million impressions on all of the pins that I shared to Pinterest. For pins that point to my website, I ended with 487,670. Yup, almost half a million impressions for a single month! I definitely attribute that to the post that went viral, because I would share multiple pins for it and they all took off. I ended the month with 2,748 followers, which is an increase in 130 followers for the month.

Audience wise, I ended the month with 394,730 monthly viewers and 18,990 monthly engaged viewers. This is a huge jump from last month, and I hope to continue it through September.
