How to Use MailChimp
I’ve seen people asking how to create a Newsletter and MailChimp is the most commonly known free service {even Her Campus and HCBN use it!}. For the free service, you are allowed up to 2,000 subscribers and you can send 12,000 emails a month. It really isn’t hard, there are many tutorials, so I decided to walk you through how to use MailChimp!
This is going to be a long post because of all of the pictures!
So after you create an account, it’ll take you to your dashboard: pictured below. It’ll tell you about your most recent campaign, and you have the options at the top.
So next, I’ll go to templates:
So after you click “create template” you get all of these options
After you pick your template you get to design it however you like!
Alright, so your template is perfect and you’re ready to send that first newsletter, but you’re not sure how.
And make sure you click “regular campaign” because that’s how you’re going to get to use your lovely template!
Choose who you’re going to send it to:
Get all of the details in:
Then you get to insert your awesome template!!
Since your template is already perfect for this campaign, you can skip the “Design” step and go straight to “Confirm”!
So from here, you can either send it right away or you can schedule it for a later date and time!
Okay, last thing; you need to be able to get people to sign up, which is under lists:
Also note, under contact information you will have to provide a mailing address per federal law.
Here is where you’ll view your list of subscribers, you can also make a signup form!
There are four different types of forms you can choose from.
This is to create a “General Form”
This is to create an “Embedded Form”
This is to create a “Popup Form”
“Form Integration” involves using other applications and I don’t know if many bloggers use this option.
Okay, so that is all you need to know if you want to start a newsletter on MailChimp! It really is super easy! I hope that you choose to do this! Good luck!
-XOXO
