Brunch on Monday

Happy hump day!

This past Monday was pretty great, I had no class! Monday I usually have just one class, at 4:30pm but this past Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. day so the university was closed. Since Monday is also Matt’s day off from work, we decided to go back to California and visit our parents!

We caught the very first flight to Burbank, out of Phoenix, at 8:45am. It definitely wasn’t fun getting up before the sun on my day off, but it was defintiely worth it! We got into Burbank at about 9:15am, my mom picked us up! I, of course, took the typical “traveler” photos; you know, the ones of the clouds or the typical “scenery with airplane wing”. I just love taking these kinds of pictures!

From my house we went to brunch at First Street Family Restaurant, and met my aunt Debbie there! First Street Family Restaurant is the cutest little restaurant, that look like a house, in Simi Valley. It was definitely a great place to catch up with my family. We spent about an hour or so just talking and catching up over great food! It was the perfect way to spend my day off, and the highlight of the day for me! It’s always a good time when my family gets together; it always brightens my day!

Afterwards, my mom and I went through all of the jewelry that she brought from my grandmother’s house back in November, and the pieces that she was given throughout the years. It was amazing to see all of the pieces that my grandmother had collected, and even made, throughout her life. It was so nice to catch up with my mom, the last time I saw her was in New York in November, and it wasn’t a “happy time” trip.

We took the last flight out of Burbank, back to Phoenix. We got back at about 7pm, and then I knocked out with my Mac n Cheese, in the middle of a Twitter chat.

It was so wonderful to see my family, especially after not being able to see them during the holidays. It was also a great surprise for my aunt to join us for brunch! I can’t wait to see them again, hopefully soon!

How did you start off the week?

-XOXO
