Daycation: San Diego

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday, Matt and I took a daycation {day vacation} to San Diego. We left Phoenix at 8:45 MST and landed in San Diego at about 9:00am PST. After that we walked 2.6 miles {yes walked} to the USS Midway. It was a nice walk down Harbor Boulevard to the USS Midway. There was a nice ocean breeze and it was fun!

Then we actually toured the USS Midway {I thought we were just going to walk to it}. I thought it was amazing. It was really eye opening to tour an actual aircraft carrier, to see what men and women actually live and work on. There were a lot of stairs, I’m pretty sure I have calves of steel now {and they were pretty muscular to begin with}. Even with all of the stairs and cramped spaces I really enjoyed seeing the USS Midway.

After seeing the USS Midway, we walked up to Little Italy for lunch. We went to Bencotto and the food was pretty good! It was super fantastic and I was a bit disappointed because the food did not match the atmosphere but nonetheless it was good.

After lunch, we walked back to the airport. We made it back to the airport at about 2:45pm. We sat around the airport until we boarded the plane at 7:00pm. Although it was a long time to sit around, we were so tired and sore that we didn’t want to walk anywhere else. Plus, we both enjoy watching airport operations {as unusual as that sounds}.

We got back into Phoenix at 9:45pm {MST} and stopped at Modern Burger before heading home. It was such a fun and exhausting day. Although I am very sore this morning I wouldn’t change anything about yesterday {except for the shoes I was wearing}.

I had such a fun time with Matt yesterday. I can’t wait to do another daycation and see more cities! How was your weekend?
