How to Relax After a Long Work Day

Hey there! I don’t know about you but sometimes I come home from work exhausted because I got my butt kicked. My job is physical in the sense that I’m standing on my feet all day. That means that when I get home that I’m pretty tired, and just looking to relax. So, I wanted to share some ways to relax after a long work day.

When you come home from work, you just want to relax, and you deserve to. Whether you have things to do when you get home, the first thing you should do is take some time to relax and unwind instead of jumping to what needs to get done. If you don’t take some time to yourself before getting to those things, you never will take time for yourself until you crash.

Change Into Comfy Clothes

This is the first thing I do when I get home, I put on my pajamas. Part of this is because I get home at 11pm-midnight, so I’m getting ready to go to bed. But on the days I work more during the day, I still put the pajamas. Changing into comfy clothes can easily give you a more relaxed feel, even if you only got home five minutes ago.

Read a Good Book

Have you ever read a good book and gotten lost in it? Like all of a sudden an hour has passed and you thought it has only been five minutes or so? Reading allows your brain to escape the mundane things that you are currently worrying about. I love reading a good book to relax. Not only does it help me take my mind off, but it also helps me wind down and get tired. Reading used to be the way i would lull myself to sleep.

Take a Bubble Bath

Another way to relax is by taking a bubble bath. Get some candles, your favorite bath soap, and get ready to relax. For me, taking a bath is about the soap and the atmosphere that it creates. I also just love being in water. Besides soap, you can infuse essentials oils (mentioned below) and salts into your bath to “detox” your body and help your overall physical wellness.

Use Essential Oils

Essential oils can be great in helping promote relaxation and reducing stress or anxiety. They also can help with reducing migraines, enhance physical wellness, and bring joy and peace to yourself. Different plants give different oils which help with different things. It is important to research what you are looking for out of your essential oils so you can get the right oil for you!

Listen to Relaxing Music

Relaxing music can really have an effect on your mood, so can music in general. Listening to relaxing music can really make you feel like you’re away in a spa, or a getaway beach where you don’t have to worry about the stressors in your life. You can download Spotify on your phone and search for relaxing music and get your relaxation on.

It can take some time to find the routine that is right for you. However, it is important to take that time because your mental well-being is definitely worth it! You can’t be productive and kick butt at work without taking care of yourself.

Tell me, how do you relax after a long day of work? Let me know in the comments!
