My 2019 Blog Recap

My 2019 Blog Recap

Hey there! I can’t believe 2019 is over in a week! Where has this year gone?! I honestly can’t believe this year is over, I feel like I didn’t get anything done, but I did! Today I’m sharing my 2019 blog recap with you.

My 2019 Blog Recap

So, here are all the big things I did with Creatively Lauren in 2019!

New Blog Theme

When I switched to self-hosted WordPress at the end of 2018, I originally went with a Pipdig theme. I chose them because they had a cute theme I liked and a migration service so I wouldn’t mess up when I moved from Blogger to WordPress. But, at the end of March, Pipdig went through a major scandal in the blogging world, involving malicious code in their Pipdig Power Pack (P3) Plugin. (If you want to read about it, you can read Wordfence’s blog post about it.) At first, I thought it was nothing, but as more tech-savvy developers talked about it, I honestly didn’t feel comfortable using them or recommending them. So, I switched to Bluchic! I currently use their Maggie theme and I absolutely love it. They have fantastic support, with each theme having their own little section. I also bought their landing page templates to start getting my landing pages for my opt-ins in better shape.

Built a Resource Library

I used those Bluchic landing page templates to build a resource library! It’s not the most robust resource library out there right now, but all of the freebies I have ever created are in there. Both my college and blogging resources are in the library, I didn’t want to have to create two libraries, but as I expand the blogging ones, we’ll see what happens with the college ones. I thought it would be difficult, but the landing page templates from Bluchic really made it easy. I can’t wait to add more products to it next year!

Started Streaming on Twitch

Yes, I started streaming on Twitch in October, and although I haven’t streamed much this month, I plan to pick it back up in January. All I have streamed so far is Minecraft, because I really love playing it. I started playing it earlier this year, and then I was like I could stream this on Twitch, people like Minecraft. So, that’s what happened I started streaming in October. I’m hoping to make it a bigger part of my content strategy in 2020. Plus, it’s relaxing (most of the time) to play Minecraft!

Started a Patreon

Although I started it at the end of the year, I did finally launch my Patreon page. Running a blog isn’t free or cheap, and there are things I want to do the require equipment I don’t currently have. That’s where Patreon comes in. Patreon is another way of monetizing my content so I can keep bringing you content ad-free and bring you new and exciting content. I don’t run ads on my blog, I tried it out and I just didn’t like how they looked. So, I decided to start a Patreon. That way, you can pledge a small amount monthly and get some perks for your donation, besides the awesome content on the blog!

Final Thoughts on 2019

Overall, 2019 was a pretty good year for Creatively Lauren, even though I didn’t monetize it to the level I wanted to. That is one thing I plan on focusing on in 2020, monetization. Regardless, I would consider 2019 a success for Creatively Lauren. I hope you enjoyed my 2019 blog recap! Also, keep an eye out! I’ll be sharing a 2020 blog goal post to help you create your blog goals for next year and I’ll be sharing my blog goals for 2020 in the coming weeks! I’m excited for what the new year will bring.
