New Hobbies to Try in 2019

Hey there! Today I wanted to share something crafty and creative! It’s a new year and that means that it’s time to try new things! The beginning of the year is the perfect time to try a new hobby! Hobbies are a great way to relax and unwind from the stresses of the adult world.

One thing to make sure of is that the hobby you end up trying is something fun and relaxing. Hobbies are meant to entertain and make you happy and help relieve stress. So, here are some hobbies that you may want to try in 2019!

One last tidbit, if you search Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration on any of these hobbies, don’t let the pretty pictures stop you from trying these hobbies. I know it can be easy to say “oh I can’t make something that pretty”, but those people posting those pictures have practiced and practiced to get to that point.

Bullet Journaling

Bullet journaling can be very fun and relaxing. It can be a creative outlet, or it can help someone focus and minimally plan their day. I do more of a creative bullet journal so I can express my creativity and make my planner the way I want to. You don’t have to use your bullet journal as a daily planner, you can always make one and use it as a regular journal.

Paper Crafting

Paper crafting is making things out of paper. Whether you’re making a simple shape or a complex paper animal, paper crafting can be fun and relaxing for someone. I definitely suggest looking up some inspiration on Pinterest or Google, because paper crafting can seem very vague without some guidance.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is a good way to document important things in your life. I used to scrapbook when I was younger, and I haven’t gotten back into it. Whether you want to just make something for you, or make a scrapbook to document and give to children when they grow up, it can be a very fun hobby. Something similar that I have been seeing recently is memory planning. Basically, it’s scrapbooking in a planner.

Photography

Photography is an awesome hobby that doesn’t take much to start up. Most smartphones nowadays have really good cameras, so you don’t need to invest in an expensive DSLR camera right from the get-go. You can start photographing nature from your backyard, or if you live in the city, city life is always an interesting thing to document.

Writing

Writing is something that can be very therapeutic, whether it’s creative writing or journaling. I love creative writing because it lets me get ideas out of my head. My head is constantly going and worrying, but creative writing lets me focus on something and get it all out. It also lets me just let my mind run wild at the same time. It’s hard to explain, but I love when I’m able to sit down and write.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? Anything new you’re going to try this year? Let me know in the comments!
